ASUU Mobilizes Branches Ahead Of Next Week Warning Strike

Barring any last-minute change, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) will start a two-week nationwide warning strike on October 13, 2025, due to unresolved issues with the Federal Government, including the implementation of the renegotiated 2009 ASUU-FGN Agreement.

This decision follows a two-week ultimatum issued by ASUU, with National President Prof. Chris Piwuna expressing dissatisfaction over the government's lack of response.

The union highlights key demands such as funding for university revitalisation, payment of salary arrears, and addressing lecturers' victimisation. Piwuna urged unity among members and adherence to union directives as they mobilise for this action.

The government's response is awaited.
