Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, officially inaugurated and swore in the 32nd Students' Union Government (SUG) Administration led by Comr. Omeonu Goodnews during a ceremony held at the Anyim Pius Auditorium by 9:00 a.m.
The inauguration and oath-taking ceremony, presided over by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ursula Ngozi Akanwa, marked the official commencement of the 32nd SUG Administration and a new chapter in student leadership at the university.
In her keynote address, Prof. Akanwa announced that the University Bursar had been directed to commence the immediate refund of school fees to students who paid from their personal funds before later benefiting from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) scheme.
The Vice-Chancellor charged the newly sworn-in executives of the 32nd Administration to provide responsible, transparent, and inclusive leadership while prioritizing students' welfare. She urged them to maintain open communication and a cordial working relationship with the university management to promote peace, academic excellence, and sustainable development on campus.
As preparations continue for the new academic session, Prof. Akanwa also encouraged students to complete their course registration promptly upon resumption to ensure a smooth academic calendar.
Speaking on behalf of the newly inaugurated 32nd Administration, the SUG executives pledged to serve as a strong bridge between the student body and the university management.
They reaffirmed their commitment to protecting students' interests, promoting accountability, and fostering an environment that supports learning, innovation, and student development.
The ceremony was attended by members of the university management, staff, student leaders, department heads, and members of the university community. It concluded with goodwill messages from university officials and outgoing student representatives, who called for unity, collaboration, and continued progress in advancing the mission of MOUAU.
