The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Jos branch, has declared a total and indefinite withdrawal of services over the non-payment of March 2026 salaries and the exclusion of the Earned Academic Allowance (EAA).
The directive was issued on Wednesday by the branch chairperson, Jurbe Molwus, instructing all members to immediately suspend lectures, examinations, and participation in statutory meetings.
According to the union, the industrial action, which takes effect from April 8, 2026, follows resolutions reached at both the National Executive Council (NEC) and the branch congress.
ASUU UNIJOS stated that the decision was taken after prolonged patience by members despite persistent delays in salary payments.
The union attributed the delay to the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, noting that the university’s bursary department had already completed its part of the payment process.
It further warned that the situation could disrupt industrial harmony, stressing that members’ patience should not be taken for granted.
To ensure strict compliance, ASUU announced the activation of its strike monitoring team.
The development is expected to significantly disrupt academic activities at the University of Jos if the issues are not urgently resolved.
