Stanley Nwabali, the Nigerian Super Eagles goalkeeper, has officially left Chippa United of South Africa after four years with the club. The 29-year-old requested to leave despite signing a three-year contract extension in 2024, and Chippa United has granted his release, wishing him success in his next career chapter.
Nwabali's impressive performance at the Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire helped him secure Nigeria's first-choice goalkeeper position. He's attracted interest from clubs in South Africa, Europe, and Saudi Arabia, with possible destinations including Queens Park Rangers, Al Ettifaq, Kaizer Chiefs, and Orlando Pirates.
During his time at Chippa United, Nwabali played over 70 matches, became captain in 2024, and established himself as a key figure between the posts. His consistency earned him the captain's armband and a breakthrough with Nigeria's Super Eagles.
Chippa United has set a price tag of R30 million (approximately ₦2.3 billion) for Nwabali, which has reportedly put off Kaizer Chiefs. However, other interested clubs may be willing to meet the asking price, suggesting Nwabali could be set for a move abroad.
