Two final-year students from the College of Engineering and Engineering Technology, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), have developed cutting-edge projects that are set to revolutionize healthcare and security management.
Dan Emmanuel, an Electrical and Electronics Engineering student, and Onile-ere Ayomikun Victor, a Mechanical Engineering student, unveiled their innovations at the UNDP-MOUAU University Innovation Pod (UniPod) interactive session held on January 29, 2026.

Emmanuel's project, an AI-driven smart hospital bed, is designed to enhance patient care, safety, and clinical efficiency. The system integrates actuator-based controls that automatically adjust patient positioning, while interfacing with external supervisory systems for real-time monitoring, alerts, and access-controlled operation. This innovation has the potential to significantly improve healthcare outcomes in Nigeria and beyond.
