Barring any last-minute changes, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) plans to initiate a two-week warning strike starting Monday, following the expiration of a two-week ultimatum given to the Federal Government to meet their demands.

The government has yet to comment publicly on this impending action, despite ongoing negotiations. Education Minister, Dr. Tunji Alausa, stated that significant progress has been made, including the release of funds for academic allowances and commitments for further budget allocations.
He urged the unions to exercise patience and avoid strikes, emphasizing the sincerity of the government's efforts to resolve pending issues.
ASUU president, Prof. Chris Piwuna, criticized delays from the Ministry of Education and indicated a warning strike is likely unless substantial action is taken by the government within 48 hours.
Mobilization for the strike has reportedly begun at several federal universities.
