Transportation activities within the campus have been disrupted as tricycle (keke) operators reportedly suspended operations following a disagreement over approved fares.
The development comes shortly after the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) Students’ Union Government (SUG), led by its President, Hon. Nwogu Bright Chinonyerem, reiterated that no approval had been granted for an increase in keke fares to ₦200. The union maintained that students should not pay more than ₦150 pending further directives.

In apparent reaction to the directive, many keke operators withdrew their services, leaving students stranded and forcing them to seek alternative means of movement across campus. Reports indicate that the operators are resisting the ₦150 cap, insisting that rising operational costs justify the proposed ₦200 charge.
The situation has sparked mixed reactions among students, with some commending the SUG for standing against arbitrary fare hikes, while others expressed concern over the inconvenience caused by the sudden transport shutdown.
As of the time of this report, there has been no official resolution between the SUG and the keke operators. However, sources suggest that discussions may be underway to address the impasse and restore normal transportation services on campus.
Students are advised to remain calm as efforts continue to resolve the issue.
