Tragedy has struck in Kano State, Nigeria, where two young lives were lost in separate incidents involving open water sources. An 18-year-old teenager, Yusif Malam-Gwani, drowned in an open water at Bachirawa, Kwanar Madugu, Ungogo Local Government Area, while an 8-year-old boy, Abdussalam Ibrahim, fell into a well and died in Karaye Local Government Area.

According to the Kano State Fire Service, the incidents occurred on Thursday, with the service receiving distress calls about the two separate tragedies. A rescue team was immediately deployed to the scenes, but unfortunately, both victims were brought out dead.
The Director of the Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Sani Anas, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased, stating, "The service expresses its deepest condolences to the families of the deceased." The victims were handed over to their respective families, with Yusif Malam-Gwani being handed over to the Ward Head of Bachirawa Quarters, Jibrin Isah, and Abdussalam Ibrahim being handed over to his father, Malam Musa-Mudi.
