The Benue State Government has confirmed that security operatives successfully repelled an attack by suspected bandits on Anwase village in Kwande Local Government Area on Friday. DSP Udeme Edet, the State Command spokesperson, verified the incident, stating, "It is true, there was an attack on Anwase, but our gallant officers repelled them and there was no casualty."

According to eyewitnesses, the suspected bandits invaded Anwase village around noon on Friday, setting several houses ablaze.
A local source from the village reported that some residents suffered injuries during the invasion. This latest attack on Anwase follows a similar incident on Tuesday in Abande, a neighboring village, where six people, including a mobile police officer, lost their lives to bandit attacks.
Former councillor in the local government, Lawrence Akerigbe, corroborated the incident, stating that the suspected bandits indeed invaded Anwase community on Friday.
The repeated attacks on these villages have raised concerns about the security situation in the area.
The State Government is yet to release an official statement on the incident, but efforts are reportedly underway to apprehend the perpetrators and restore peace to the affected communities.
The situation remains tense, with residents living in fear of further attacks.
