The Federal Government, through the Yayale Ahmed Renegotiation Committee, has convened conferences for Monday, November 24, 2025, and Tuesday, November 25, 2025, in a bid to forestall the looming strike by way of the Academic Staff Union of Universities.
A National Executive Council meeting of the union is predicted to be convened by its management.
Depending at the outcome of the meeting, the ASUU NEC will determine whether to embark on a strike action or not.

Among the demands are the assessment of the 2009 ASUU–Federal Government agreement, payment of tremendous salaries and earned allowances, and disbursement of the university revitalisation fund.

So far, the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, has maintained that the authorities has met the union’s demands.
