.... On Sunday, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, appointed Prof. Bond Anyaechie as the new Vice Chancellor, following a year after the controversial reversal of Prof. Bernard Odoh's appointment by President Bola Tinubu.
Odoh's tenure was marred by issues regarding the recruitment process and concerns raised by the Academic Staff Union of Universities and the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria, leading to legal action against his appointment.
In a press briefing, Pro-Chancellor Olugbenga Kukoyi emphasized the thoroughness and transparency of the recruitment for Anyaechie's position.
Anyaechie, who specializes in Medical Physiology and Clinical Measurement, has extensive experience at the College of Medicine, University of Nigeria, having begun his teaching career in 2002 and achieving the rank of Professor in 2013.
His academic credentials include degrees in Medicine and Surgery, a master's degree, a PhD, and a Master of Public Health.
